I found this quote from another reef forum.which was also quoted from somewhere. I have the RB 50/50 set up as my 'dawn' and it gives a really nice multi colored shimmer to the tank.kinda like what you would see during sunrise!!! RB Actinic Blue (angled 45 deg toward front) RB Actinic Blue (angled 45 deg toward back)ĪTI Aqua Blue Special (may switch to ATI Blue+) I am looking forward to how my corals react to the combo set up over the course of the next few months. I ended up connecting each LED strip and my T5 canopy on separate timers so each LED runs shorter time periods with all 7 lights on together for only 2 hrs for now until I can light acclimate my tank. One thing is nice with the brackets that come with the strips is that you have complete flexibility in the direction/angle of the lighting.you can overlap from opposite angles and end up lighting ALL sides of the corals!!!Īfter firing it up, it was pretty damn nice looking!! I noticed that with 3 LED strips and the 4-T5 canopy running simultaneously.my corals seemed a bit taken back as there was now a ton of light. I ended up removing my 2 bulb-T5 light canopy and installed the 2 new LED strips that I ordered.
I decided that a LED/T5 combo will give my corals & my eyes the best of both worlds. Over the course of the month I have been pretty amaized how much my corals flourecence have improved during the dusk period when only my RB blue strip is running.:spin3: After following other reefers whom have had pretty good results with multiple RB LED modules and my noticeable improvement in florecent corals with the RB blue strip, I ended up ordering (thanks Jeremy - nice to meet you at MACNA) 2 additional modules.a 2nd RB Blue and a 50/50.
My T5 set up consits of 2 separate light canopies. I installed a 48" RB LED blue strip over my 90g to compliment my 6-T5 set up a little over a month ago.
